Nestled within the Western Alps, the Italian region of Valle d’Aosta is synonymous with the ski resorts of Courmayeur and Cervinia. If you’re travelling to Vallee d’Aosta, chances are you’re heading to the mountains. This Italian region is home to the iconic snow-capped scenery of the Matterhorn, Mont Blanc, Monte Rosa and Gran Paradiso. The most popular ski resorts are Pila, Courmayeur and Cervinia. With a regional airport and proximity to the French Alps resort of Chamonix, the landscape is ideal for winter breaks to remember.

For stunning views of the Mont Blanc massif why not hop on the Skyway Bianco cable car to Punta Helbronner (3,466 metres). Those looking to unwind can soak up some indulgence at the scenic ‘Terme di Pré Saint Didier’ spa, whilst walkers enjoy the natural setting of Morgex and golfers enjoy teeing off the fairways of Val Ferret.

The region also offers plenty for the avid sightseer, with Aosta city (a cosmopolitan gateway to the Alps) offering a host of Roman sites and Savoy-era architecture to admire. The 14^th century fortresses of Castello Fénis and Castello di Verrès are accompanied by the Savoy-era castles of nearby Aymavilles, Sarre, Aosta and Fènis, ensuring there is plenty to keep history and architecture fans happy.

Throughout the year, the Aosta Valley also boasts’ several gastronomy festivals; from the Honey and Apple festivals to the Bosses Ham, Marche au Fort and the Parc d’Arnad festival to name a few.
